Did you uninstall anything recently?
Good to have the extra space if no damage has been done.

Any change that you did a disk clean up recently, and checked that box that allows it to "compress old files". Windows will then automatically take any files that have not been used in ages and "compress" them to free up space on the hard drive. It causes those compressed files to run a tiny bit slower (as to uncompress them before you can use them). But usually you will not notice any speed difference. They are files you never use anyways.

Start looking for files that you have not used in a while, because something really big is gone!
