There is a way for you to practice on your own. First things first, pick a favorite MLB player and go to You Tube and watch film on that guy and write notes. Notice his timing, his swing, his weight transfer, his batting stance, his fundamentals, etc. Then...hit both the weight room and the batting cages. Work on your timing, work on your swing, work on your range in the outfield. One thing that tends to get overlooked in baseball is to have quick wrists. Hank Aaron (the true HR king) had the quickest wrists in the game and look at his results.
Also, you could watch instructional DVDs on both hitting and playing defense. Practicing by yourself is better to do. Especially if the other person really isn't putting in as much effort as you are. Hope this helps.

I play softball and go to a preseason camp On Friday and Saturday nights from December 1- Feb 16. Then my school starts doing a preseason thing. It is a lot of work with school and stuff, but i am a freshman, and really want to make the team so yea that is what i do. it's expensive (it's about 1,700) but it's a 1 coach for every 3 students ratio so you learn a lot. I did it in 8th grade even though my grade school didn't have a softball team, and went to a softball camp, and really learned a lot. good luck!! i am sure they have a program this where you live. get your parents to look into it. and if you can't afford it you can get scholarships becasue my freind got one to go there. he does baseball too.

i have the same problem. i love playing baseball, but i have no one to play with. maybe we should get together sometime. the only thing i can think of is throwing the ball in the air to practice catching, and doing the same to practice hitting. it won't be easy to get better by doing this though.

Yes,do what Ozzy Smith used to do,get a tennis ball and bounce it off some steps back at yourself.Helps with great hand-eye coordination. My brother and I used to play a game that way.

You are going to have to find a group of friends that feel the same way about the game as you do. I sounds like you are not going to be able to count on your brothers to be there for you. Good luck.

Go to Dick's or Sport's Authority or any local sporting goods store and buy a ball return thing. You just put it in your yard and throw at it and the elasticity will make it come back to you. I love mine.
