I would keep it. It does not make you a bad person. If it is just cash sitting there and there is not a return address or wallet or anything with it, it is yours for the keeping. If I found a wallet I would mail it back to the person with all cash still in it.

Best thing to do is give it to the police. I think that after 90 days if no one claims it, you can keep it.
My mum found a diamond ring once, she handed it in, and after 90 days they rang her to say she could have it.
So this way, you have a good chance of keeping the cash without a guilty conscience!

I would run an ad in the paper describing the wallet and the amount of money, along with my number so people can call me to claim it. I wouldn't spend a cent of it. If nobody claimed, yes, I would turn it into the police.

If the cops can't find the owners.. and how would they know for sure??... then they're just going to keep the money for donuts or something anyway.

How much are we talking here? I think if I found $500 or less I would keep it. I don't think it would make me a bad person.
