it's definitely the Pacific - and the Marianas trench(located SE of Japan) is the deepest trench - in addition, there are many other trenches in the Pacific that are quite deep.
The deepest part of the Marianas trench is 6.8 miles deep. It was formed by tectonic plate subduction.
