Should the time come and there is a need or emergency requiring you to swim, you'll appreciate that it is known by those who are more intelligent than you that you should know how to swim and learning to swim is a requirement in your PE class.

If you have a physical problem, like you don't have arms or legs, then you've got an excuse. If you once almost drowned and you now do what you can to NOT learn to swim, then you provide GREAT evidence for evolution described by Charles Darwin as you don't fit the environment, which has bodies of water in it ,and you don't deserve to survive. If you go to your principal, as another poster recommended, you should be laughed out of the office. If you're female and you have your menstrual period, too bad as you'll be over it in a couple of days and, in the mean time, you can use a tampon. If you get menstrual cramps, too bad as swimming, like other exercises, totally relieves menstrual discomfort. If you are embarrassed about your body, too bad ... lose weight or don't be so self-centered as no one else really cares, especially once you're neck deep in water. And you want your TEACHER to understand? What should your teacher understand ... that you're an idiot??? Well, give it up because if your teacher is worth his or her salary, the teacher isn't going to care about your little pampered sensitivities on this issue and YOU have no business asking the teacher to work MORE because you simply don't want to swim.

You answered, but paid no attention to your answer, your own question as you said, "its (it's) not an option." (BTW, the word is "it's", not "its" as the word is a conjunction of the words "it" and "is". Apparently your mother called your English teacher and got you out of English class, too).

Stop being a wuss (sp?)! Learn to swim as it may save your life and, with consideration to the fact that more people in the US participate in swimming during a year than any other activity, it seems to be a good idea.

Hating it is not reason enough to get out of it. If there is a physical reason you shouldn't swim, get a doctor's not explaining that. If it's just a fear, you need to get over it. Most states in the US require a swimming competency test to graduate from either high school or college. Bizarre, I know, but those are the rules.

Why is swimming not an option?

Are you scare or maybe you cannot swim, either way go swim with your classmates.

Tell her u can't swim. And if she wants to teach u, then tell her u almost drowned as a child and haven't swam since. If she presses the subject, then go to the principal and discuss the situation.

It's either an option or you fail the class!

Maybe it's time to get over your fear.

In life you're going to do things you don't want to do. You can't run from things you fear and hate for your ENTIRE life.
