I knew a lot was but over the week-end I had a rude awakening while out shopping. I really try and buy things not made in China. It's hard to do. I was at Dave's, a Christmas store here that has loads of decorations, trees, wreaths, anything you could possibly imagine needing for Christmas as well as other holidays. They do have other items like fake flowers, craft items, candles, collectibles. I swear, every single Christmas or Thanksgiving Day item I picked up was made in China. All the trees, wreaths, ornaments (and they have hundreds), lights and so on and so on. It was truly depressing. I curbed my need to buy and left without buying anything.

I bet that store would only have one aisle of items for sale if they trashed all the China items. Everything in that store really was a non-necessary item. We could put China out of business if we all stopped buying. What do you think?

It's extremely cheap for companies like Mattel and Fisher Price to have toys made in China, but it obviously is not worth the savings.

China is losing a lot of their reputation over recalled products, but I don't think it's all their faults.

I think the toy companies are quick to blame, because they want to cover up their mistakes.

Still,I try to buy merchandise that is made on American or Canadian soil.

WALMART is the biggest and the most fearsome retailer in the world. I travel through various south eastern US and find Walmart's parking lots full from morning to late evening.. MADE IN USA was just an advertising slogan, as Americans, especially in small town USA liked buying American made goods. Then Walmart and other retailers found that buyers would choose cheaper rather than US made goods. So, Walmart changed... They are the first retailer to use supply chain technologies to its fullest by using high tech computer and other techniques. They can almost anticipate needs of shoppers. For example, they can get emergency supplies to areas affected by natural disasters. So, Walmart is in the business to satisfy customer needs and when a business does that, it is always a winner. I am sure a lot of small businesses have been hurt. But, they have raised standard of living in rural America also. Walmart represents an unfortunate side of most efficient organization...
