I have to memorize all the capital cities, and bodies of water (including rivers) of present day europe. We will have a quiz where i will have to identify certain markings on a blank map. however, I am having trouble finding an effective way of memorizing all this stuff, does anyone have any suggestions??

Easy, use flash cards. Take several pieces of paper and cut them into 100-200 little pieces, just big enough to write on. Each piece is called a flash card. Put the name of each city and each river, etc on an individual card.

Then find it on a map of Europe:

Now select a card and try to find the place quickly on the map (without reading the map of course).

If you manage to find it, put the card in the "Good" stack. If you didnt, put the card in the "bad" stack.

Keep going through the bad stack until all the cards are on the good stack.

Then give the cards to your Mom, Dad or Friend and have them test you and see how quickly you can find it on the map. You can even play a game and see who finds the place first. You will win!

You can even invite some friends from school to come over and play the game with you. Winner gets a small prize. You will have fun and before you know it, you will have memorized everything.

Most of tne others were formed in the split of the dformer communist countries and formation by the European Union. If I were you I'd leanr as many as possible and get a map of europe and see where they all are. Try learning them in groups of three or four which are situated near each other and have similarities of peoples, like
Great Britain, Germany and France
Denmark, Norway and Sweden
Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece
Switxerland, Austruia and Hungary
and so on. Then try the newer countries.
