He's anti-war, but he's running for the nomination of a party of which 65% is pro-war. Clear?

He does have a very good chance to win the election. He raised $4.3 million in a day and he's going to raise far more in about a month because the Tea Party 07 site is doing alot better than the This November 5th site was doing at this point (it has been consistently ahead of pace in member registrations and was started alot further in advance).

Besides that, he's now polling 5-7% nationally and would probably get 16-20% in New Hampshire if their primary was today. And this is despite his low name recognition and the fact that many potential supporters don't want to support him due to the fallacy that he supposedly can't win.

And to call Ron Paul a nut when his opponents advocate keeping taxes at the current high level, staying the course in Iraq, and bombing Iran even though the Iranians pose no threat to us, is just absurd.

He has a chance, it's just not as strong as the other top tier candidates, Paul lacks exposure and delegates.. but his message is popular enough to resonate with disgruntled voters, if it can just get out there, I'm sure he would have a stronger chance.

If you are a Ron Paul supporter, become a delegate for the RNC, the following site lists the steps:

To address the other claim that has been made here, the republican party has traditionally been the anti-war/less government party, the party has lost it's way not Congressman Paul.. he is the only "true conservative" running

Its dangerous to be right when the establishment is wrong. The truth isn't very popular right now. However, universal truth is not measured in mass appeal. That being said, if he gets equal debate time with anybody, he will wipe the floor with them. He is the best candidate for the job hands down. It will be a shame for America if he doesn't win.

P.S. What do people think Libertarianism is? Learn about it. Its based on pure Liberty. Remember learning about it in school? It had something to do with... oh I don't know... everything this nation is based on and made us great!!

his policies on the whole are too radical to get elected as a republican in a national election. he will take some votes from romney and rudy, but not enough to really affect the election.

The real reason: He doesn't play ball with Big Bidness.

Ultimately, what is going to submarine Ron Paul is that he is accepting donations from hate groups, especially KKK members and other 'separatists'.

Ron should return those donations, but he is so desperate for money to stay in the race, he has little choice but to keep them for now.

edit: I think most mainstream Republicans call him a nut because they have been brainwashed by the socialist, big nanny-state neocon ideology. If these conservatives would look at the positions on issues which got Reagan elected, they would quickly back off their criticism of Paul.

He has a chance, just not a very good one.

In the end lets see what happens in the first few primaries.

He is a Republican and after the rubber stamping congress of the past six years the people are ready for change. He could be the best man for the Presidency but if he is a Republican he will not win.

I don't think Ron Paul is a nut! I just think he's unelectable. He doesn't have the broadbased support, nor the money, needed to win the nomination.

And if he did, he couldn't beat Hillary.

Vote for Rudy!

EDIT:

The 10 Ron Paul supporters who gave me thumbs down, they are the nuts! If the shell fits, crack it open!

He has a chance. It is just nobody agrees with anything he says in the national debates except you.

Last I checked, he was running only about 3% in the national approval polls. If 97% of the nation does not like you, how will you win, regardless of how much money you have raised?
