get BELARC ADVISOR for free (belarc.com) and it will tell you what's in your PC.
go to www.crucial.com and run their RAM tool to tell you what RAM you've got and what you can get.
Good video cards require a lot of power, so you'll need to see what the power supply is rated at. Probably have to open the case to see what it is, unless it is viewable on the back.
As for AGP or PCI for video card, look at the motherboard and see what it has. Might not have either. Some low end boards only support integrated video w/ no upgrade options.

you really shouldn't have to change the power supply?, if that's what you mean. You will though have to open the computer and look at the model numbers to see what type they are. If you bought it standard from a store or something, you can search the model (i.e. Hp Pavilion A1250N) which is mine. Just make sure you get whats gonna be compatible with you mother board, like the right kind of RAM. Also make sure you don't over do it, the motherboard might not be able to handle too much RAM, since I bought mine bout 2 years ago, it can support 4 Gigs of RAM, you will good if you have an upgradeable PC, but it should be anyway. Mine wasn't upgradeable, like on the label is wasn't but I've had no problems upgrading and adding.

ATI isnt a type of graphics card its a brand. there are three types though. PCI- the oldest. dont remember what it stands for. AGP - Accelerated graphics port. which is just now becoming obselete. and PCIExpress. which is the newest. Unless your computer is just a few months old I doubt it has a PCIExpress port. You would be best off with agp. the only two real brands out there are nvidia and ATI. ATI is usually a little better preforming but nvidia is more stable. system memory is not effected by what slot interface you use.

If you go to any aftermarket computer parts retailer, like TigerDirect.com, there is a place to type the manufacturer, model number, name. When you do that, the information will come up. Or go to the manufacturer website. It will also have that information.
