Find something that interests u. For instance if u like auto body, read a book to help u and gain knowledge in that area. Or about real person events, like drug use or a persons real experience look up under Non Fiction.... It's still reading. You do not have to go out and get a big book that features something that u have no interest in.

To echo everyone else: read something you are interested in! And try new genres-- you might be surprised to learn that you are really interested in biographies, or memoirs, or science fiction, or historical nonfiction, or graphic novels.... there are endless possibilities! Also, start small! Thick books do not equal better, and smaller novels do not equate to easier or lesser. Tuesdays with Morrie is a very short book/quick read, and it is also one of my favorites.
Also, if you really wanted to get into reading, try forming a book club. Stopping after every chapter for discussion might make a book hold your interest.

Open one, and read from Word One.. on. Turn the pages, as you're finished. Don't think of it, as something anyone ELSE wants you to do.. but something you need to know-about. To grow yourself... you're reading this, right? It could be the first paragraph of the greatest book you'd ever read..
Think for yourself.. that you're in school for a reason.. and most anything learned comes from books, there. There's a reason why people burned them for 100s of years -- to keep knowledge (and independent thought) from dumb-workers heads.
P.S. -- Reading is something usually that you do alone, takes time and you can't share - unless someone else read the same thing.. that's why kids don't think it's cool. But, it's the one thing that will separate you from anyone else, at anytime on your life. (fact) Live and learn. You'd better learn to like reading, because life is nothing but a series of CONTRACTs, Agreements, mortgages and Small Print.. and if you can't read or don't have the patience, you'll be living with your mom etc. for a loooonng time (and beaten out of any money you do ultimately earn).
So, read.

You should find a topic that interests you and then go from there. I'm a librarian and love books, there have been very books that I have picked up that haven't interest me but you need to find a hook and then you won't want to stop reading.

Read something you're interested in and just read for short periods. Try some audio books, maybe that will help.

I hear ya. I have the attention span of a 3 year old in a toy store. It is hard for me to read anything unless it is really, really, really up my alley or interesting. I think I do have ADD. Do not want to take anything.

I love reading.
You have to read books that like really fit what type of person you are and about things you really really really enjoy. I mean some people just dont like reading so you have be really picky and find really amazing books.
Also learn how to picture whats happening in your head. It makes it wayyy better ad easier to get through the book

YOU are interested in something of particular value to your life. Just find any reading material on that level and you will be pleased. You will always have patience with subject matter in which you are deeply concerned. Believe me, there will be tons of books on subjects of your choice. I wish you well.
