My son has diabetes - diagnosed at 9 years of age - as he needed lots of support, supervision, monitoring etc i was awarded disability living allowance for him...........
as soon as he reached sixteen it seems he no longer needed me to check he has eaten regularly, etc so they stopped his benefit......

i didn't expect anything for doing what a mum should do but just as he is starting to become a little more independent he loses his money............

by the way, he is now 20 and i still fuss about his eating, insulin, exercise, glucose etc...........and probably always will

These days in this society, the average village idiot can claim disability for being stupid, but those who have real illnesses cannot. Examples of modern day disabilities include:

--ADHD or ADD

--"learning disability" (Translation #1: dumbass. Translation #2: pathological liar)

I had sever acne when I was a kid. Got made fun of big time, all of the time in school. That was back in the 60's when only people who were in wheel chairs missing limbs or had a real medical reason to be on disability. It's gotten out of control with the way people who are healthy looking get disability. I have emphysema, worked in factories all of my life. I asked my doc if I would "qualify" for disability benefits. He said no, because I smoke. Not to mention that I breathed in all kinds of fumes and vapors working in those factories. But, that doesn't count.

Docs must be afraid to get sued because they seem to approve anyone for disability and for handicapped parking placards. I see more able-bodied people in the blue spots that don't deserve them.
I know, some disabilities aren't obvious...but I'm serious.

I heard that too. But you have to get the full story before you make judgements. It could a very severe form of acne that required constant treatment throughout the day. Without knowing it's hard to say.

Maybe it was worse acne than this...

I know a woman who lives two doors away, only in her late twenties who has a disabled badge and is bloody fitter than me. I climb, play football, swim and I consider myself fit. She parks on the double yellow's across the road and nothing is done about it. She has acne, mmmm I wonder if that's how she got her badge????

Makes me sick this country...

Well I can't wait until they kick all of these morbidly obese people and severe acne sufferers to work in offices all around the UK so they can be ridiculed by people like you.

For acne, or because they have anxiety or mental health problems because of the acne?
