No, you don't need to memorize. Memorizing the work is difficult. Do you have a question sheet that have answers for your work? If so, then answer the question again also don't look at the answers that is already answered the questions just answer these question again in your own words without looking at the answers. If not, just look at the textbook and read over and over again that will help. I do it to get better marks and I studied for 4-5 hours to get an A on a test. And I did. If you want to get an A, just do what I gave an advice to you. Good Luck on your test!!

sit dowm some place where you won't get distracted by the computer, phone or tv, etc. read. highlight the text [if its yours]. if the book isnt your take a pencil and while reading underline what you think is important, and then when you return the bok you can erase all your markings. take notes and actually go back and read them. get in a study group and you'll see that by teaching others you learn also. and if you can't do that, then explain it to yourself outloud.
hope i helped =]

well I wish I could help...
I had a 3.6 GPA my senior year... and I almost NEVER studied... I don't know how either... I went back to school for Medical billing... graduated with a 4.0... I just retain it as I read I guess...
Do what works for you.. read it .. talk about it... explain it to yourself (if that makes sense)

Read it, Write the important things down. Then reread your notes out loud. It helps to see it, write it, and hear it. If you do all three things it will stick and your grades will improve.
