Is the movie similar to the book? I have to do a report on the book and I've already seen the movie and I just need to know if they're similar. Are there any huge differences, or maybe just a few small differences? Can someone please help me out?

There are some characters excluded in the movie. There are also some different scenes excluded in the movie. A couple of scenes are different, at least slightly. If you do a very thorough report based on the movie, you might be able to get away with it. However, don't be surprised if the teacher asks some questions based on the differences.

There are not any HUGE differences, but A. Mercer is right, the teach will probably ask questions to trip up those who just saw the flick, like, to where did the .family travel in the winter?

BTW, the book won the Pullitzer Prize for fiction, and is always included in the list of the best novels ever written, so it's worth reading.

There are significant differences based on the fact that it is a long and detailed novel, and a relatively short film. If you are wondering because you have a report to do, I suggest reading the book, it's excellent.

I haven't read the book since I was in school...and I haven't seen that movie in a while, but I remember them being almost the same... Don't remember any big differences...
