alright, so for art class, I have to do an altered book.

The problem: I'm not very creative. ._. My theme is an average day in life, and I know kinda what pages I want to do, but I don't know like, what to do. xD

Any ideas, help, techniques, etc? =]

I have never heard the term, "Altered Book."

I have studied art since the 1960s. Could it be a personal term your teacher uses to describe the project?

Altered books are lots of fun to do, first thing get a child's hard book (different shapes are nice), then gesso the cover and the interior pages. Gesso up to the interior seams - but do not put over the seam as it makes it too thick to close. If you want to disguise the seam put a ribbon down the middle of each page.

To make a nice cover, paint over the gesso with acrylic paints, you can stamp patterns on it or get your glue gun out and make swirls etc. on parchmanet paper. When cool remove and glue to the cover of your book. Then paint those patterns.

For interior pages, go through magazines or online and look for the items you like, cut them out, and after you paint the interior pages different colors and use stamps, paste on the different photo.

(You can buy gesso and acrylic paints and stamps at Michaels or JoAnn's)

You'll have the neatest altered book out there.
