It is physically impossible to be addicted to cannabis. A person can psycologically desire to enjoy the feeling that cannabis gives them, but physiologically, you cannot be addicted.
My advice would be to offer the child some constructive activities and fun alternatives, because sitting around getting high is done out of boredom at the age of 13.
Find something they are good at - other than video games, and help them excel. Outdoor sporting activities are best.

Anything used in excess can be habit forming over time. A 13 yr old is likely not addicted however their use at that age is pretty harmful to their development. I would seek advice from a professional - services are in the yellow pages. NA is one, alanon for friends and family. Good luck. It is powerful stuff and certainly can hinder people if used excessively.

has he parents that care ?or has he parents that smoke drugs and think its no harm?tell them anyway and watch what happens .if they don't try to help him .ask a doctor what else u can do to help him. cannabis can cause mental health problems ,some people think its OK ,to smoke but they don't know what way it effects others
just because they are not experiencing problems don't mean that every one is the same .some one as young as 13 needs help ,well done for looking out for him

You can indeed be psychologically addicted. Read the literature. The 13 year old needs psychiatric evaluation.

cannabis is addictive and it is int after time you nead to smock more to get high so that's where the addiction comes in.
its not addictive because you ca stop when ever you want.
but if you nead to find out more or even get help telephone the national drugs help line.
i wish some one did for me i had to go through hell to stop and it ain't nice.
at the moment its just cannabis but may be tomorrow its **** or Ecstasy and then its an ought story.

no hes not..
he might think he is, but he isnt... ive been smoking weed for nigh on 30 years, yes i like a smoke, but, i dont drink, and i have never done class A's... im an amputee and i smoke two or three a day... i have 2 degrees( sociology and fine art) and a shed load of pain...
so, youre either bang at it, or hes smoking solid "soap" which is crap, and around 2% pot... and a handful of ketamine...
most cities have drug councillors, and theyre listed in the squawking rages...
and my advice; change your social circle, stop hanging on the estate, put down the spliff and pick up a football, or perish the thought, a book.
getting stoned is great... at the time... BUT spotty stoners dont get the girls, they get long hair and skateboards... stoners live in the shadows of their bedrooms... instead of shining under the lamps in the big city...
surely, if a scshool has an anti bullying, anti racist policy, it should also have drug councillors... go see one of them.

Drugs and beer wrecked many years of my life. I went into rehab and got clean. Talk with someone who can help like a councilor, health care worker, or your parent or safe adult to get help for your friend. If not you should drop this friend until they clean up their act or you will be helping them stay ill. Addiction is a disease.

A 13 year old isn't buying it themselves... quit supplying it.
Any addiction that cannabis has is 'psychological', not 'physical'.
