I drank my first full beer at 16. I have been drinking small sips of wine here and there since I was 4. I dont see why the United States is so uptight when it comes to drinking. How can an 18 year old be considered an adult and still not be able to drink? Its ridiculous. Who here has actually waited until they turned 21 to take their first sip of alcohol?

The rules were different when I was a kid, I only had to wait till I was 18. But even then, I didn't wait. But, I really didn't have much before then. I never developed a taste for beer, & didn't like cheap 'wines'. So, I moved out of my parents house at 19, & have been a true social drinker ever since.
But, that is difficult to do now, at best.

I was 21 and 5 months old before I had anything alcoholic to drink. It is possible to do. There are more important things to focus on than drinking.

The old enough to fight but not old enough to drink argument is not that great of one. An 18 year old can be drafted or join the military and cannot buy alcohol. However, the 18 year old also cannot be a congressman, senator, or president either. There are situations where the law says a person cannot do certain actions until a certain age. Really, there are more important things in life to worry about.

Yes, people have waited. In fact there are people who live their whole life without a drink of alcohol. Grow up not that many years ago 18 was still a minor. IF you think you may need alcohol to live life you may need to stop drinking and attend AA.

I did. I felt I owed it to God and my family. But I don't look down on 18 - 20 year olds who drink. Any younger than that I don't think they have the maturity to handle it.
