I think it could be "Morning Glory" by Oasis that you're thinking of. It starts with a helicopter noise, then a deep thudding drumbeat. It's on the album "What's the Story Morning Glory?", track 10 I think.
Or - possibly the "Apocalypse Now" version of "The End" by The Doors. Or "Orange Crush" by REM
