Well Alice, I am married but I can't for the life of me tell you why I went and did such a thing. I never wanted to be married. I wanted kids but I didn't want a husband. I was always of the mindset that if I had to raise something, then it would be something that I gave birth to. I didn't have a desire to finish "raising" someone that their mama gave up on. I like to do things my way and in my time. I don't like having to answer to anybody and I don't like having to tell a grown person what to do. I am very self-sufficient and don't need a man to make me a living or to make me feel whole. I expect to have to pick up behind, clean up after, feed, clothe, and oversee everyday situations with my children. I don't feel that I should have to do that for a "grown man'.
.....so why in the world DID I get married????

To be honest, I never thought myself the marrying kind and although this sounds funny--if it were not for my husband--I wouldn't be married at all, I mean, ever. I met my hubby when we were 10/11 years old...marriage was NEVER at all one of my goals. Here's why:
I don't like answering to anyone about anything--I'm too independent.
Marriage is an expensive mistake that requires a legal army and the court system to get out of! I'd rather pack a bag and leave!
The thought of playing "HOUSE" forever is enough to make one wanna just shoot themselves and put themselves out of their misery--there's so much more to do than cook & clean!
Raising a child or god forbid, more than one for the next 20 or so years is enough to make any sane person consider permanent sterilization.
It costs more to be married--if you got a tax refund before you were married--you can kiss it good bye after you're married.
I never thought I could tolerate anyone for a lifetime or more importantly, meet anyone that could put up with me :o)
And last but not least, as a married woman, I often find people asking me if "it would be okay with my husband" now--I never considered that before I was married but it's downright annoying now--what does he have to do with anything--I'm the one in question?
Also, if you're a femaile, once married, you become invisible, whilest the husband suddenly has women gushing all over him???

You true self is gone forever.
