We had the same question last year when booking our honeymoon. We chose Luxor because we wanted to see the history and enjoy walking along the Nile etc, rather than just lying on a beach and scuba diving. If you are in to scuba diving or just want to laze around then I think Sharm El Shiek is the place for you guys! If you are interested in the history of Egypt - which is really incredible - then Luxor is great! Luxor has Tutankhamun's tomb - the boy king. You may have looked at him in school. Really fascinating. Communication is not difficult because a lot of people in the tourist areas speak English. There are those who want to get money out of you and can be quite scheming, but if you are streetwise it isn't a problem. It is a beautiful country, with an incredibly rich history. So I say it depends on what you are interested in!

I live in Cairo, Egypt for 5 years now, and its perfectly safe to come here. I never had any incidents, just dont be conned by the sales people and always bargain on market stall prices if he told you 100 tell hin 30. Dont over pay. Also if you have female company dont let them dress too skimpy, im not saying cover from head to toe, but not a tank top and a mini skirt. Egypt is fantastic, and the people are very kind, friendly and helpful people. Enjoy your trip, and good luck.

Tell you what, Egypt is far safer than the UK !
I lived in Luxor for 2 yrs & have traveled there since 1998, & i have always been safe & looked after by the people.
I wouldnt walk down a street at night in the UK, but in Luxor, i never felt safer.
Just relax & enjoy.

No it's not - thats why a lot of companies and people go on holiday there!!!
Of course it is fine, so long as you take the necessary precautions you would normally take when you go on holiday!!
I have just got back from a red sea cruise - and had a fabulous time and I'm sure u will do the same

i have been to sharm el sheikh twice and will now never go anywhere else for my holidays.
the country is like heaven. it is so peaceful and the people are wonderful.
ok so it is desert and not a lot of greenery, but you get pampered by the locals, the workers at the hotel cannot do enough for you. they are kind, polite and very helpful.
you will love it.

As safe as going to London to see the queen, I did all those except the cruise.
At 65 it was the best holiday I've ever had, certainly the most interesting and educational.
