Or, maybe the moral of that episode was that we are each two halves of a whole, and are best joined in mutual respect?
No, hang on, that's poofy. Let's argue. Boo! to whoever (fill in space here).
Maybe we each need to meet a complete opposite, to confirm the black-and-whiteness of our prejudices? Or is the real world like a zebra, that keeps moving forward despite its colour contrasts? Or perhaps a giant pink fluffy rabbit, with a ... damn! I've got drunk, sorry 'Reality'.

The world revolves in shades of gray, those of you who think that your view is the only correct one and all people should think, act and believe the same as you need to come out of your shells and put yourself in other peoples shoes for a time.
There are no absolutes, one way and one way only. Specific circumstances dictate every choice and option. Until you are able to see things from all sides, you can't know what the options are or how another individual came to their decision.

America needs more political parties to remove the polarization that is happening here and let people find one that more closely represents them. As you might guess, I am an independent because both parties have major faults.

No, there are very real differences between the political parties.
If you have not yet developed an understanding of US politics, you had better get started.

Some rather important components and services of our Government are at stake:
Social Security
Balance of power between Congress/Courts/President
Personal Rights
International relations

Our country is being pushed into polarization. John Kerry said he believed there were two Americas - what a divisive statement. The media, in order to keep their audience, will always try to portray every issue like its a football game. We even have colors now - red states vs blue states. People become "fans" of their team and vehemently hate the other team without considering the issue and how it will affect them, their community, and the country. Politicians, who certainly know better, use this method too in order to combat voter apathy. Its up to each American to be smart on the issues and demand better strategies from our politicians.
