This really is not a partisan question. The Bush White House has used executive orders to "shore up" more power to the White House than ever before. This power will remain with the Presidency unless a President gives up these powers intentionally, which seems doudtful regardless of what party occupies the office. Is this healthy given the all imortant "checks and balances" created with wisdom by the founding generation of Americans that wrote the Constitution?

No, it is very unhealthy and unwise. The republican push on us the Patriot Act which is unpatriotic and unless it is repealed, it will end up destroying the USA.

As for the checks and balances, the Bush administration has illegally refused to hand over documents that investigative committees have subpoenaed and they have also illegally destroyed documents that by law are supposed to be archived.

Well, only the strong survive. Let's face facts: I would like to compare the Bush administrations to the cavemen. The Bush administration is strong, ( They get bout everything they want), Cavemen were strong, they had to be to survive in such a tough environment. But alas, the cavemen had little and weak minds and shortly disappeared.... their time was up. Soon the Bush administration will be disappearing, their time will be up, and they will have been lead by a weak mind. So, strength isn't everything.

Bush/Clinton, whoever - why do people think these idiots are better able to plan their retirement, health care, and kids education better then they can?

Washington DC as a whole has too much power than it needs. It's time to do some downsizing.
