The term "beauty pageant" becomes a misnomer when little girls are made to wear makeup, poofy hair, and tacky-looking dresses. After all, children are naturally beautiful, and the main reason why makeup exists is so that adults can hide the flaws that come about through puberty or aging, which are two things that these little girls still have yet to contend with. Not only that, but the heavy makeup and outrageous dresses make the girls look like clowns.

I think the wearing of makeup is mostly to do with the competition for sexual partners. Good skin complexion is a sign of good health and fertility. Ok, there is no problem allowing teens to do so as they are starting to look for lovers, but kids shouldnt be allowed and particularly forcing them to wear it for pageants is sick and suggestive.

Traditionally, in a beauty contest [over 18s], the winner is essentially deemed to be the most sexually desirable [even if personality comes into it] by the judges. That is why kids should not be allowed participate.

I've pondered this before and paedophilia is the only logical explanation here I'm afraid. I think it's a weird scene overall.
