I would definitely say yes. I think that the existing Basketball Hall of Fame is a joke, with the voters paying far too much attention to the balance of genders, international names, etc.
This year's class had five inductees, all of whom were coaches! Not to take anything away from the deserving guys like Phil Jackson or Roy Williams, but is the HOF really reflective of basketball in American when we see Pedro Fernandez and Mirko Novosel inducted, while players like Artis Gilmore continue to be ignored? Those foreign coaches deserve enshrinement, but I think their should be a distinction between the NBA and college/international play.
I think a lot of basketball fans and insiders have felt this way for years. The HOF has always been a mystery to me.

No...basketball is a universally popular sport that should be celebrated with a universal hall of fame.
I love the hall of fame. I live in Connecticut, about 2 hours away from it and I thought it was cool. However, I've been to the Baseball, Football, Hockey, Rock and Roll, and Basketball HOF's and it doesnt celebrate its honorees of the way that the Baseball HOF celebrates them. Its way more interactive but still pretty fun and a good day trip...its just in the wrong state. Nobody cares about basketball in Massacusets. It should be in NY where people care.
GO KNICKS!

This is a very touchy subject that can cause friction so I'll just offer my insight on things. Right now, the current basketball HoF is like a conglomerate corporation that has way too many issues to deal with. They have to get past international players, NBA players & coaches, the WNBA players & coaches, and past officials, executives, & GM's recognition for their contribution to the sport of basketball. Although, it is a great idea to have a collective center to recognize every aspect of personal contribution to the sport, it also slows down the process considerably. You would imagine NBA players like Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen should already be Hall of Famers when current HoFamers like Dominique Wilkins and Charles Barkley already made it. In terms of accomplishment and stats, MJ and Pippen have accomplished more than some current members (Clyde Drexler, Barkley, Wilkins, Dumars, etc) residing in the Hall.
What is the reason for this delay? It's simple. Every year, there are too many applicants vying for a spot in the Hall of Fame. The only problem is, there is a limited capacity in terms of who gets in and who has to wait until the next time the doors swing open. It's important to recognize every athlete who has contributed to the sport but it's also possible that some basketball players won't be recognized until they're long gone. I think dividing the Hall into each of it's own individual sector allows an athlete recognition for their own area of contribution to the sport. For instance, the international players should have their own Hall to display their original countrymen pioneers just like how the NBA has it's own display of pioneers of the league with the NBA's 50 Greatest Players.
The WNBA should also have it's own Hall sector to recognize the first women's basketball players so that young ladies growing up in the future, can recognize female leaders and idols they can talk about and be proud of. It's not fair to collaborate so many sectors of the sport of basketball because you will end up diluting the value of each individual athlete and their role of importance to their own respective league. Different levels of competition have different rules and systems set up. The players who thrive in these distinctive environment should be allowed their own prestiges place in history and not have to share it with another player in a different type of league with an entire different set of criterias.

No.
A Hall of Fame ia a Hall of Fame. I didn't even know the Basketball HOF had college and women in it, and I live in Mass. But I hear it's a great hall of fame and I don't think adding college and women in it diminishes the institution or the NBA candidates' accomplishments.

I haven;t given this thought before, however off the top of my head I'd say no because You the people who are going there are probably the level of fan that would be interested to see the accomplishments of foriegn players as well as college which is the build up to the pro game, plus the nba being the largest draw those other areas, College,Womens, and Foriegn financially probably couldn't maintain there own hall

that is referred to as the BASKETBALL hall OF recognition; there is not any such ingredient by way of fact the NBA hall of recognition, and is the reason why you spot WNBA coaches and gamers in it. Walton exchange into the main suitable college basketball participant of all-time, winning 3 national participant of the year and 3 national championships at UCLA. additionally, if it weren't for his returned injuries, he would be interior the authentic 10 of all-time centers. some human beings get into the hall of recognition in keeping with their college profession, by myself.

i think all the 4 major sports nba, mlb, nhl, and nfl should all have their own hall of fame as well as all the college sports because there is a difference between college sports and the pros that some people just dont understand and that difference is that just because you are good college doesnt mean you will be good in the pro sports and that should be enough to separate the two if you ask me.
