I started noticing this around the time of implantation. Cigarette smoke on other people's clothes, car exhaust, the hand soap in my bathroom all drive me crazy! At the same time some smells smell SOOOO good, like my shower gel and shampoo. I just found out I was pregnant and this is about the only symptom I had, anyone else have this too?

The dirt and laundry soap cravings are an indication of iron deficiency I believe, it's called pica or something.

That also happened to me... I could walk into the grocery store and smells the bakery department or the flavored coffee beans and get SO sick!! Then other things would just be the best ever.... now 3 years later... when I smell the good things... I remember my pregnancy! :) Happy Thanksgiving!

The very first thing that told me that i might be pregnant was the smell of my lip gloss. It made me sick and i felt like throwing up even before i missed my period. That gave me a slight doubt and when i did a home pregnancy test right on the 31st day, i understood why the lipgloss smelt BAD. Then i hated hand wash, my own shampoo, soap, some perfumes, the smell of the rice(both raw and while getting cooked) and many many more. lol. Its all with the hormones. Now i feel a lot better when compared to the initial 4mths. I'll be completing 7mths in 10 days and things smell far better now.
And ho i love the smell of wet mud hehe!
Good luck to you and may you have a smooth, safe and a peaceful pregnancy :-)

Yes! I'm 35 weeks now, but during my first trimester I could step into my kitchen and smell everything in my fridge. I couldn't stand to get close enough to the garbage can to throw anything away, either, and forget about actually taking out the garbage. All of this coincided with my morning sickness which did not help! Even walking through the grocery store and smelling everything there made me sick. The heightened sense of smell seemed to disappear with my morning sickness which happened about halfway through my second trimester. Hopefully yours will fade, too. Congratulations and good luck!

Oh yes. It's amazing what you can smell what other (non pregnant) people can't. Hopefully this keen sense of smell will not make some things nauseating to sniff. That is very common. For me, no one could find out what the awful spicy smell that made me throw up everytime I walked into the kitchen.

The same thing happened to me. I couldnt stand the smell of silk, either if someone wore it, or a clothes rack at the store. I could smell that from a mile away. It grossed me out. Congrats on the baby.

I haven't heard about smell, but our doctor did ask my ex when she was pregannt if she had strange cravings, like dirt or laundry soap. It's just your hormones out of whack. You will be fine in nine months plus a few after to adjust back.

When I was pregnant with my daughter, I used to love seafood, and once I got pregnant I couldn't stand the smell of seafood, and the smell of cigarettes. I had a very sensitive nose.

I definitely have! I used to think my husband's cologne smelled sooo good, but now I gag every time I smell it! Also, my female dog is going into season again, usually I can't smell her while the guys (my husband and my brother) can. I smelled her before they did last night and almost got sick from it! But, just like you...some things also smell unusually good....like warm cherry pie....yummmm...lol
