the conservatives. They would know that lower taxes promotes the economy and jobs promote growth. They also know that there has never been success from taxes. They would have less crime and fewer social issues.

Well, let's see what the overall impact of Liberal thinking has been on America:
1) A book was published recently in America by a former leader of the Viet Cong who admits his side was all ready to surrender. However, they held out because of the Left wing media, protesters, and Congress saying it would deny funds to the Armed Forces.
2) Libs protested against the development of nuclear energy. If we had just ignored these nutty hippies, we'd be energy sufficient right now, and could tell the Middle East to go pound sand.
3) Before Libs got a hold of the education system, people who graduated from High School had practically the same level of education as many college graduates. Now you have even college graduates who can barely write a coherent sentence.
4) Libs mocked Ronald Reagan's approach to making the USSR admit defeat in the Cold War. If he had listened to their pessimism, the USSR would have gotten stronger and stronger. (Do you understand that, "comrade"?)
5) Before Libs got a stranglehold on modern culture and society, out of wedlock births had a social stigma, and hence there were far fewer of them.
Knowing all that, can you imagine if Libs actually ran their own country without having their nutty ideas tempered by Conservative logic? You'd have a whole country that resembles San Francisco, complete with that dumb as a rock city supervisor Geraldo Sandoval who insists the U.S. does not need a military (yes, you heard right. He repeated the same line many times.)
I guess it would take the Liberal half of the U.S. about 30 years to so completely ruin things that they would come back begging to be let back in the "real" U.S. Of course, all that is contingent upon the supposition that they were not invaded by those terrorists they keep claiming are just an exaggeration.

The country already is emotionally split and in my opinion, the only reason there is so much trouble is that we have to live with each other.
I'm one of those who believes that fences make better neighbors. So, in the short term, I think BOTH would thrive. Most of us can tolerate people whose values and lifestyles are the polar opposites of ours for a time - as long as we don't have to be exposed to it or deal with it ourselves. Each side would live happily temporarily after with people of similar values and lifestyles. People would be highly engaged and invested in communities that they desired and believed in. Some compromises would have to be in order - conservatives would have to teach their own children to mow lawns and clean houses and liberals would have to stop handing out everything to everyone. But a short term Utopia could be found for a bit, as the euphoria and overwhelming sense of relief kicked in.
But people, being humans as they are, typically can't leave well enough alone.
Eventually, the Conservatives would decide that if they did not convert the whole world to their religion, they would not be doing the will of God. And why should their ownership greed be restricted to half of one country? Why not plunder the world? Money money money!
Eventually, the Liberals would decide that if they did not convert the whole world to their Ecoviews, they would not be saving the earth. And why should their save-all disadvantaged-at-any-cost plan be restricted to half of one country? Why not rescue the world? Save save save!
And then people start pushing themselves on others all over again and there goes that.

*giggles* ooo, stirring up trouble. Would these be two separate countries with two different sets of laws? If so, I would think the conservatives would thrive, and the liberals country would deteriorate and quickly be taken over by some one.
The liberals would be more likely to spend it on the state, (health care for children), and less likely to spend it on the military. Therefore, they would be easy prey for some dictator.
The conservatives, however, would have a very strong military. They would also allow capitalism to thrive. Currently, many liberal laws hamper capitalism. Without those, the dollar would soar.
But I don't know. It's a hypothetical question. :D
dstr- what? O.o That's the most incoherent, emotional rant I've heard in my life. Lurid countenance of evil leering at them? Have you seen Ted Kennedy lately? ;) Amazing. *claps* My hat off to you.

On the conservative side, five percent of the population will quickly become rich at the expense of the others, who would then relocate to the liberal side of the country, where they would get good union jobs and affordable health care. The rich conservatives, left without a labor pool, would try to exploit illegal aliens, but the aliens would eventually jump ship as well. In the end, the rich folks would have to do manual labor, which would offend their sensibilities. So they'd hire a mercenary army, invade the liberal side of the country, and take over. Then the U.S. would go back to business as usual.

Easy, if the republicans wound up with the military it would only be a matter of time before they invaded the democrats and remade them in thier own image. I'd give it a year.
If the democrats had the military, After about 2 years when all the republicans wealth was filtered up to about 10 people the rest would have to defect for some government cheese.

I hate to say it, but pretty soon we would invade you. LMAO
That is the best question I have seen on here in a long time.
Theoretically speaking. You have to take into account natural resources. That would be the biggest issue of them all. If there would be some way to split those too, than I would say that both Americas would survive. The simple fact is though the country needs balance from each side to keep the other in order.

Conservatives. They would have low corporate and personal taxes. The liberals would have high taxes. Businesses would leave the liberal side and come to the conservative side to pay lower taxes. The liberal side would still exist, it would just be stagnant (like Europe) while the conservative side prospered.
This is exactly what is happening now. We have allowed the liberals to raise taxes and artificially raise wages and our companies and jobs are going overseas to countries with low taxes and cheap labor. Simple supply and demand.

Well, the Conservatives would of course end up with the money in the divorce. But the Liberals would be liked better by their kids, and of course would have better hair and clothes (for they let Gays near them), and thus would have a much hotter boyfriend/girlfriend in the rebound period. So it depends on which former spouse you consider to be thriving, if one has all the dough, and the other all the fun.

The Conservatives, naturally...they would rally round the campfire, circle the wagons and reach agreement on everything; while the Liberals would argue amongst themselves, stay seperate and dissorganized and eventually start killing off each other!

Neither would - it would be a civil war all over again to unite the country..........that is why there is STILL the North and South today.
Rather in which would thrive: The Conservatives would be Christian(rich in God) and the Democrats under their leaders would be very poor in $.
