It's about a rebel princess who is 15 or 16. She is the only heir to the throne and has no wish to ascend it, so she runs away. Her mother, the queen, is named Callista. Her father is dead or so she believes and is not even of royal or noble blood. Her guardian is her trusty silverwinged falcon named Galen who watches out for her and keeps her out of trouble. What do you think as far as names for the princess go. i'd like a really romantic name but one that can be shortened to a nickname since she's on the run and doesn't want anyone to know who she is. And does it sound like a good story.

At first I thought you wanted a title for your story. I read the first sentence of your description and I was thinking, well, why not The Rebel Princess? But now I see you want names for your heroine, and for your kingdom.

My name is Melanie, and that might be a nice romantic name for your princess, or in alterned form, Melania, and she can be called Mel.

Other suggestions:

Joanna--Jo, Anna
Helena--Lena, Ellie
Jael, or Jaella--Jay
Angelica--Angie, Jel
Rosanna--Rosie, Anna
Jocelyn--Joss, Lynn
Jasmine--Jace
Hyacinth, Jacinta--Hy, Jace, Cindy

Good luck with your story!

Since Callista is of Greek origin I stuck to names of the same origin...

Alessandra - ally
Penelope - penny
Thalia - lia

I'd have to know more to determine how good it will be.

Kingdom Onoskym (rearrange the letters of greek island mykanos).

I wrote a story that started out somewhat similar to that. (as it evolved in my mind, it became an entirely different story, though, so no worries.) But some names I considered were:
Vitani-Vit, Tani or Tanzi
Destiny-Dez or Dezy
Jessaya or Jessica-Jess, Jessie, Je-je
Natsumi-Nat
Mistique-Misti
Aurora-Rory
Natsuri-Re-re

If it's well written then it will be a good story.

Name the princess Cassiopeia or Cassandra and you can call her cassie.
