I used to use bar soap, then I discovered a liquid soap I really liked with the convenience of a pump. It just made it so much easier to lather up and also no big mess in the soap dish to clean up anymore.

Liquid for hands, bar for the shower - unless I'm going to stay at someone else's house, then I bring shower gel (I don't like sharing bar soap).

Liquid. I used to have 3 roommates who were guys, and I was definitely not going to use their pube-ridden bar soap.... so I bought my own liquid shower gel. Have used that kind ever since.
