I want someone, democrat or republican who stands on principle...making decisions based on principle not the latest polls, lobbyists, demogogues, partisan politics, ...hey you get the picture. Someone who is not a 'people-pleaser' not afraid to make some people angry. (realizes that your decisions will do just that)
Currently, I like Barack Obama and John McCain

If the man who we had for the past 7 yrs could run again, how likely would it be that he would be elected? Considering the good/bad/and ugly....esp. in light of the current contenders in both parties.

You just described the man we have had in the White House for several years now. He knows he is not winning brownie points with the American people. But he continues to do what he believes in, right or wrong.

I live in Scotland so I can't comment on your current political situation.
However I do agree that it is beyond time for politicians to begin thinking of the people who they are meant to be serving instead of being selfserving politicians. It would be great to come across someone who had the real interest of the country at heart and stood up for those interests. Far too many politicians make it into power and then renege on their promises. There are far too many "Yes men".

Have you looked into Ron Paul? He's about as principled as a man can be. His principles are based on the constitution though, don't know if you want to be seen supporting such a crazy idea.

Huckabee is about as Principled as you can get. A lot of his views aren't popular, but he stands by them.

"Principles" like John McCain's often land him at odd's with his own party leaving many in his own party not wanting to vote for him.
