the sims: deluxe edition...?

so this is my first time playing the sims... how do I get a better job or make more friends? (currently have two and I think they're getting annoyed by me already) how do I avoid gettin robbed (it happened twice already and Im out of money!!!!) if he is too depressed to search for a better paying job yet I have no money to buy a tv or games and no friends to talk to what do I do? Please help me!!!

to avoid getting robbed, go to electronics in buy mode and get an alarm system to put by the doors.
you get a better job by getting promotions. in order to get sims promoted they have to be in a good mood when the go to work, have the necessary skills like body, charisma, etc. (check in the job info of your sim and it says what skills they need), and sometimes you need a certain amount of family friends too.

if you don't mind cheating, for sims 1 press ctrl + shift + c while playing and type rosebud then press enter for money or keep typing !;!;!;!;!;!; for as long as you want for even more. also there's game mods you can download off websites that allow you to control pretty much everything with an object.

do you have sims 1 or sims 2? because if you have sims 2 i can give you a link for a great game mod.

Jobs get better paying when you get promotions; if you switch jobs, he'll be kicked back to the lowest paying job, and that's not going to help. Build up his skills and friends so he meets the requirements for a promotion.

You can avoid getting robbed by putting up a burgular alarm; it can be purchased under the small electronics menu.

He can call his friends and talk to them on the phone, or invite them over. Look at his needs; what is lacking? Does he need to have more fun? Have him do something fun. Is he not comfortable? Buy more comfortable furniture or have him sit down.

If this isn't working out, start over. Move onto a small lot (or into a premade house) and go from there. Make sure you have something to fight all of his needs (fridge, counter, and stove or microwave for hunger; furniture for comfort; toilet for bladder; shower/tub for hygiene; phone for social; tv or book shelf or stereo for fun).

If you want to cheat, use ctrl + c to bring up the cheat menu; motherlode will add 50,000 simoleons and kaching will add 10,000 (or 1,000, I don't remember which); maxmotives will increase his bars to all green.

There is always cheat codes that you can use..it won't hurt...unless you don't like cheating. And if you don't like cheating, you can do it the hard way. Make sure all of his needs are met such as hunger, comfort, fun, energy, etc. When his mood is green you can get him another job. As for money, I would all use this cheatcode that gives you a thousand dollars everytime you put it in.. If you want it let me know. To avoid getting robbed, you would have to get him a job in the criminal career.
