Our ignorance about Bangladesh, for example, is understandable since it's way over there and 10,000 lives lost in a cyclone (last week) is no where near as important as Paige Hilton's latest scandal. However, there's Canada - bigger than the U.S.A. - lying on top of us with all those heavy resources and what do we know about our neighbor? Squat!

Most of the world is ignorant of Canada primarily as Canada has never held centre stage because of its geo-political stance - self inficlted or otherwise.

Being a resource based ecconomy, Canada has made ecconomic progress over the years by conentrating on selling its natural resources. Natural resources do not come with a "Made in Canada" label; they are traded in the International Commodities Exchanges based purely on price. Innovations in technology and science are few because the population is very sparse and spread out. Things will definitely change over the coming years due to immigration. Infact I can already see the change.

I am Canadian.

to Star T - you know a lot about Canada? Darling, wherever did you get your facts?

"Queen Victoria has her picture on their coins" ? This is just one glaring example of your ignorance of Canada. Actually Queen Elizabeth II is on OUR coins.

Based on how much you seem to know about Canada, I suppose we all live in igloos too, eh?

Good grief . . . spare me this kind of knowledge

Talk for yourself! Canada is a beautiful place with many provinces. They speak French in Montreal & Quebec city. Queen Victoria has her picture on their coins. Canadians are friendly people and love food. Canada is surrounded by many large lakes. They love hockey. And of course it gets cold up there that is why they drive to Florida for few months. Ottawa is the capital....see I know a lot.

It's not just Canada.

How much do you really know about North Dakota or Montana or Alaska? Any more than you know about Manitoba?

Because we assume that it's just like the U.S. Which to a degree it is. And we're afraid it's better than the U.S. Which to a degree it is.
