So my friend was just joking but he slapped me hard on the back of the neck. I can still move but will I be paralyzed. How long does it take for someone to be paralyzed after a traumatic blow? Is it instantly? Please help!

The best thing is to get someone to call an ambulance and dont move your neck. Once the ambulance comes they can put you on a spinal board so it will help to keep your neck still .

I would assume that since you've put this question on Yahoo Answers, you didn't feel that you were injured enough to require an ambulance. Are you feeling any pain? Is your neck stiff? Have you had a headache?

Without a doctor's opinion, it's not possible to tell you whether or not you were actually injured. If you're in pain or having trouble moving your neck, you should see your doctor right away. If the blow were traumatic enough to cause paralysis, I believe you would have been in excruiciating pain and felt the effects immediately.

Once again, it's hard for anyone to diagnose this sort of thing unless they are a doctor.

Be safe and take care of yourself.
