Differ from a reactionary one?

A conditioned response is one that is learned by you through repetition. You stand for the national anthem, you stop for a red light without thinking about it.

A reactionary response can come the first time you experience a stimuli.

A conditioned response is learned, a reactionary response is spontaneous.

If you feed your dog/cat by ringing a bell to call then it comes to learn that and responds accordingly.

If you try to feed them without ringing the bell then they do not know how to react and their confusion would be a reactionary response.

Google 'Pavlov' (a Russian scientist who developed the conditioned response for a fuller explanation.

The opposite of Pavlovian conditioning (conditioned response) is Operant conditioning (positive reinforcement).

I have a B.A. in PSYCH and I've never heard of 'reactionary conditioning'?

Repetitive reward or frustration controls conditioning but biological survival programing controls reaction. One is learned and the other spontaneous stimulus and response.

When you smell a food you recognize and find appealing(also a result of conditioning and exposure) conditioning will create a response where as, regardless of your exposure to food types and tastes, you will immediately begin to cough and gag if food is trapped in your throat.

Pavlov's dogs.
you fill your dog's bowel full of food and the dog drools that's reactionary. the dog is reacting to your action.
you get your dog's bowel with no food and the dog drools is conditioned. the dog is EXPECTING food so it drools
