I have a maroon hoodie with an old school badge on the front that I just love, but it's so worn out now.
Can't find any maroon hoodies in the shops atm, and can't get a replacement school one...
So I was wondering if I could buy a plain white one from H&M, and some maroon fabric dye (to use in the washing machine), and I would cut out the logo from the old one and stick/sew it on.

Think all this would work?

It's very hard to get a dark color.

Check the bigger department stores, whatever the uk equivalent of Walmart. They should have maroon in the boys or mens department. Or your local trophy shop will often stock school colors.

Also, there are lots of good hoodie patterns to sew. Check your local fabric store and look in their pattern books.

Be sure the hoodie is all cotton, or at least mostly cotton. Polyester won't take the dye. Follow the directions to the letter. Sometimes when you dye something maroon, you need to add black to the water too, so be sure to check on that.

Hoodies are usually part polyester. The dye will soak into tthe cotton thread fine, but not the synthetic. Plan on your results to be faded looking, almost pastel, unless you're able to find a %100 cotton one. Deep maroon results are not likely.

sure would! just be careful when cutting your logo, you wouldnt want to cut it and not be able to re-sew it back on! then youd be stuck with an old cut up sweater and a new plain maroon one.
