Yes. When we were looking up baby names we paid attention to not picking a name every other baby had. However we didn't want to pick a name that was out there and unheard of. We picked Alison for baby girl and Calvin for baby boy. Ended up having a boy.

I would not name my child any of the top 50 most popular names. I don't want my child to be the 4th "Grace" in her class. I think names should be well thought out and unique. I just don't believe in following trends because it shows a lack of originality and independence.

Of course, the name you use today could become popular in 10 years, but it won't matter because those people aren't your peers.

I don't follow the trends. I don't want my children to be in a class with 4-5 other kids with the same name, but I still won't name them something so bizarre that they will be embarrassed by it either.

Not really
I have a list of baby names picked out for my future children and several of the names are popular now. However, I love the names I picked out and now that even if my child shares a name with another child that my child will be unique in their own way.

Not really i have a long list of names i like that i am taking in to consideration for my future children!!! i have had lots of these names on my list for a while and i add new ones now and again. if a name has a negative connotation to me (IE. a mean class mate a unfriendly relative etc etc...) i will avoid it and any form of it at all cost LOL my list of name varies greatly...

I do in a sense...

My name is VERY common, and I do not want to name my child anything where they'd have to experience "grouping with the SAME name" in classes as I did growing up.

Thus, i guess you can say that I tend to steer away from common names...
