Short of abstinence or having a vasectomy, that is, because no contraceptive method is 100% effective.

By paternity disputes, I mean a situation in which a woman claims a man to be the father of her child knowing that he MIGHT NOT BE the biological father.

By paternity fraud, I mean a situation in which a woman claims a man to be the father of her child knowing that he IS NOT the biological father.

If you are a man, would you consider requesting a paternity test if your partner became pregnant?

If you are a woman, would you consider consenting to a paternity test if your partner requested one?

And also, I'm not familiar with the laws on this. Must the courts grant a paternity test if requested by either partner? Anyone know?

A paternity test should be done whenever there is a doubt of the paternity. Most courts will request a paternity test when one is wanted by either partner. There is nothing short of abstinence that will protect you from paternity disputes. There is nothing to protect you from fraud. If a woman wants to say a man is the father then it is up to him to prove otherwise. Fair? NO but that is the way it is.

till you're sound asleep around, or are in touch with a female who's sound asleep around, that's actual a non-concern. in case you have any doubt as to the question of paternity, you will desire to get a paternity attempt. yet to rapidly assume that on each and every occasion a female gets pregnant that paternity is questionable is actual unhappy. Like I suggested till now, till you're a ho sound asleep with a ho, any paternity scare you have is probable valid.

If they are not married, the putative father has every right to demand a paternity test and fight the issue in court. If they are married, state law presumes he is the father and it is very hard to overcome the presumption.

In every situation you name, you (the man) has an unfettered right to demand scientific proof of the claim.

Therefore, to protect yourself, you need to exercise that right. It's very simple.

If the child IS yours, then you should have kept it in your pants.
