Tell me what you know.

I'm doing a bit of research comparing using companies such as Blackwater vs. enforcing the Military Draft again, and I need to know a bit more about both sides. Also, if you have any information about the incident that happened with Blackwater killing 16 Iraqi civilians from the perspective of the Iraqi government that would be very helpful too. I'm just curious if that was one of the first incidents, or if it had been happening for a while and that was the first time their complaints were heard.

Oh! And please cite your sources!

P.S. Please no hate speech or anything. I just want an objective view of the issues from both sides so I can understand it a little better. Thanks.

P.P.S. I think I heard something about a proposed military draft, and if you have some info about that, that would be nifty too!

An AP writer, Hurst, wrote an interesting article about Iraqis demanding that Blackwater be expelled from Iraq. You can find the article here: http://www.newsvine.com/_news/2007/10/14/1024477-us-iraqis-discuss-blackwaters-status

Also, the Government has elected to use mercenaries when possible b/c they're more efficient, experienced, specialized, and not beholden to U.S. military protocol.

In my opinion, the draft has been resigned to a last resort only. From the perspective of Government officials, Vietnam, in a sense, ruined the draft. The draft was inherently racist and discriminatory. The war became unpopular. As a result, a draft would have disastrous effects for incumbents running for political office. Most politicians' goal is to maintain political power. No legislator will suggest the draft unless it becomes more socially acceptable.

Is my Grandson, who just came home from Iraq after three years enough source for you?

He served his time in the Air Force and then another year at Basra, one of the first in. Then when his duty was fulfilled he was hired by Blackwater as an electrician and sent back to Iraq.

This is the reason there isn't a draft. There are enough fools that will give there lives for a buck, to go into the enemies face and, do their duty.
This is also keeping the draft to some extent, away from the American public. I have no idea how many people that are professionals that are going back to Iraq and, other countries like that. During the Vet Nam war I was made an offer also, so was my cousin.
These young men that are professionals IE:carpenters, electricians, plumbers etc., don't have to go back and risk their lives. We could have the draft and send in trainees like I did during the 60's.

I doubt very much there would be a draft, the American public would never stand for it. It would have to go through Congress first anyway.

Blackwater is a "Corporate Security Firm." In addition to Iraq aid, these "Mercenaries" act as bodyguards for CEOs and celebs, security guards for businesses, and even provide EMS for some parts of the world. They're CEO is a former Navy SEAL, and everyone who joins is required to have at least 4 years service in the Military, or some other public tactical public service.

And the draft is just something congress likes to toss around. It will never happen.

Blackwater has been involved in many questionable actions in the past. This is no isolated incident.
