It is very common for babies to eat every 1-3 hours around the clock. It is normal. You do not need to make her wait to eat. If she is hungry, feed her. The digestive system of a newborn is still developing and having some difficulty pooping for a formula fed baby is not uncommon. Babies strain, turn red, grunt, and cry when pooping, but it doesn't necessarily mean they are constipated. A true constipated baby will pass small, hard, pebble-like stool. Unless your doctor says it is OK, don't give her any juice or water at her young age. Formula has a high water content so more frequent feedings may help her bowel movements pass more easily. There are some techniques to help such as laying her on her back and moving her legs in a bicycle motion. This can help alleviate gas and make the bowels move. Some times doctors will recommend a little Karo syrup in the bottle. Your doctor is your best ally when it comes to knowing what is best for your baby. He/she knows your baby's health history and will likely have suggestions unique to his/her experience and training. What works for one baby does not always work for another baby so it is wise to accept advice with a little skepticism.

Feed her when she's hungry. Newborns really should be on a feed on demand schedule. It's normal for a baby to turn red and strain when pooping... she's just learning how to do that as well. If you are in the car when your baby decides it's time to eat, or if you are busy, making her wait just a few minutes is ok, but it's best to feed her right away. It's not uncommon for a baby to get too worked up to feed, even though they're starving. And then you have a crazy crying baby on your hands, which is never good when they're new. So just try to feed her whenever she wants, and don't worry about the pooing, it's normal. You might talk to your doctor about how to help soften her stool up if it's hard. It really shouldn't be at her age, and that might signify a formula intolerence. Best of luck to you!

he is also on similac advanced but he does go to the toilet though, his passings are greenish and very watery, i talked to his doc and said it is normal?
he fusses a little bit when going but it is nothing major.

I had/have the same problem with my baby son.
My ped said to change him to Nutrilon Omneo and it does wonders it stimulates their intestens so they once a day and it doesnt hurt. That much.. And Camomile tea is also great for that. And ty gettin your bbgirl on a schedule feeding her all the time is only going to be a disturbant for you guys. Especially when you want to do something. It takes time and your baby will cry a lot. I did it with mine and all is good now. =) Good luck

Could be the additional iron in the formula is stopping her up. I've seen this happen with a couple of babies. You may want to try switching her to a low-iron formula to see if that helps get the bowel movements back to normal, as that helped with my friends' situation.

feed her as much as she wants i have learned if a baby doesnt need the feed he/she will throw it up. If she is gaining weight properly then dont worry as when she starts to crawl and walk the weight will drop off so dont worry. bottle fed babies to tend to constipate more

as long as your child isn't overweight feed her when she wants. Parents normally want to keep on schedual but the reality of it all we are no longer on our scheduales we are on theirs. And for he her pooping issues don't worry about it all children do get red in the face.
