Downtown at $200/a WEEK? Not going to happen. More likely per NIGHT.
You might want to try a hostel.

I think finding a downtown hotel in Chicago per week for $200 will not happen. Even finding one for $200 per day is practically impossible. I have put a link to the Holiday Inns in the Chicago area. The last link is to a travel guide to Chicago. Per haps you can get a flight, car and hotel package. Many hotels have special offers, including city tours. All websites are yahoo research.
Winter it is very cold, snowy, rainy and the winds off the Lake are incredible and summer is very hot. The milder months are better for visiting and there is so much to see all around. There are great sighseeing bus tours if your time is limited.
I would suggest if you ask a question to be more specific such as, how many people, what time of year, are you flying?

The cheapest hotel in downtown Chicago is the Ohio House Motel, opposite the Rock and Roll McDonald's - but it's $100 a NIGHT. Trust me, you will find nothing for that anywhere near downtown. Your only hope is to stay in a Motel 6 or something like it, near the airports, or in a near town and come to downtown for your fun...

Working a lot in San Jose I stay in many hotels here. Expect to pay $250.00 after taxes weekly for roach motels. The White House Inn, the White Way Inn, Mission Motel, Sand's Motel, etc. Except for the White Way (Oakland BLVD) all are located on Monterey Hwy which is close to downtown. Mother Olsen's is nicest but vacancy, safe parking, cooking are a problem.

No such place. You'd have to sleep on the grass in Grant Park or something. Downtown you'll be lucky if you can get a room for less than $200/night.

200/week!?!?!?!?!?!? more like 2000/week. Best price you can get ay a motel is probably 50 bucks a night
