Detroit wont change unless the people who run it change. That's city employees, police, and schools. Get someone qualified in charge long enough to get rid of the corruption. Kwame isn't doing anything and is probably undoing the good Archer did.
Too many people in Detroit want everything done for them. It has nothing to do with being black. Its the 80% of kids who drop out of school. They cant get a job because they have no education. People want safe streets but they don't call the cops when they see crimes. Detroit police won't show up when people do call them.
People like Iron Man and Antoine are whats wrong. They blame the problems on Bush or the list being fake. Even if the data was fake Detroit looks like crap and nobody does anything about it.

Because it's the city I live in, I see the good and the bad. I'm not against Detroit's ranking as the most dangerous, but it does hurt because people will use it to bring you down.
Yes all major cities have their problems, and crime happens in every major city. But since they were doing a ranking, someone had to be highest, and us being highest is disappointing...but not totally surprising.
So I think that city council and the government should be more aggressive in stopping and preventing crime. One way of doing that would be to perform an overhaul to areas of the city that are particularly impoverished. I've seen fields of land stay untouched since I was in preschool, and nothing is done about it. If they spent more time trying to make the city look more like a city than a warzone, and crime would probably take a nosedive. And, they would be more places for people to live.

We discussed this dangerous city list today, and someone explained how the list was compiled in a decidedly non-scientific manner. That being said, I've lived in metro Detroit my entire life, and I work in downtown Detroit, so I can attest to the fact that Detroit is a craphole and probably always will be. What Coleman Young started 40 plus years ago Kwame Kilpatrick is continuing. The voters wanted this, so I don't feel like I can complain. This is a democracy, after all. It bothers me and saddens me, but I can't do anything about it, so I just try not to get too caught up in it.

The list was complied in a weird fashion. But, as a former Detroiter – Detroit is going through a lot of problems. From unemployment, lack of jobs and schools closing it’s not looking to good for Detroit. Or for a lot of inner cities.

"You've got to see it to believe it" - Basically they should just mad up some statistics and black Detroit is considered by many as "a black city" they decide that for a change they will make Motor City on top of #1 most dangerous city. Every city (even Detroit) has its good points and bad points.
Also perhaps if Bush stopped spending money on bombs perhaps they could get the city back onto its feet again, or maybe not as Kanye West said: - "George Bush doesn't care about black people!"

Back in the late 70's early 80' Detroit was known as " The Murder Capitol " of the U.S. So this is nothing new, in a year or 2 it will change and so other city will "WIN". And give it another 10 years and good old Detroit will grab the gold trophy once again..............

I do agree with you, but I also hate when the media makes it seem like you will be murdered the second you step into Detroit. I've worked there for years and I have never had a problem. We do, however, need a new mayor.
