Why not read the marketing brochure from Microsoft to find all that info?

Single Sign On - Enables Microsoft based applications to share authentication. Oh, this is actually a disadvantage due to non-Microsoft solutions not being able to use without also integrating with the AD development kit.

Standardization - Design based on LDAP standard. Wait, another disadvantage. Microsoft added and changed LDAP entries to proprietary entries to break another neutral specification.

I guess the real advantage of AD is if you intend to only work with Microsoft products. The advantage is that it guarantees Microsoft revenue.
