McDonalds does so because they follow a strategy of Product Adaptation and Product Localization.

Wherever they start operations in the world, people's tastes and preferences vary.

Like in India they can't use Beef-Tallow to fry the fries and burger cutlets. (due to religious beliefs - cows are sacred to hindus)

Similarly, no bacon in the middle east(pork is abolished by islam)

Then there are personal choices of people according to which new products are tailored to suit local tastes.
Such as a burger with a potato and vegetable based cutlet for outlets in India.

This is why you will find a difference in the McDonalds' menus in various nations.

Here is Korea, the menu is basically the same as the US.
It was a very big deal last summer when we starting having McDonald's selling breakfast. Now it is very popular.

When I was in Australia last summer, I noticed that the kid's meals were a lot healthier than anywhere else I had been. They offered pasta and flavored milk straws instead of the sugr-laden milks.
