Thanks Jack, nice discription of what happened. However, I heard that the refs did use the replay to make the call. Any idea on that?

from what i've heard, no i didn't look it up, that the play is unreviewable but the refs used thier review booth to take a closer look at the play.

nothing against the browns, they earned the win. i'm just wondering if the nfl really needs to rethink what's reviewable and what isn't.

finally the Browns get something there way, after the bounce was after it went through the uprights. If the refs hadn't discussed it since (or some reason) it wasn't a reviewable play, good thing they discussed it and got the right call which led the Browns and Phil Dawson to kick another field goal in overtime to win it.

I just want to add that I believe the NFL clarified after the game and said that a field goal CAN be reviewed if it hit something that would make whether or not the field goal was good questionable. Which makes a lot of sense since the uprights can cause odd bounces and could get into a refs field of vision. Either way the refs made a good call. The game was on the line. They wanted to get it right and did what they needed to do to make sure that happened.

History. A kick for a FG that went up hit the upright then fell down hit the pole holding up the uprights than flipped forward on to the end zone. Called a miss, players from Baltimore headed in to undress and meanwhile some Browns players and one Ref said it went thru and then hit the curvy thing and bounced back out. The Refs decided the unreviewable needed to be reviewed and saw that it was good. The Baltimore team then had to hear that the game was not over and they need to get back on the field where a distracted team lost in OT. Browns have some Angels as fans for sure.

Ravans would of won but the browns kicked the football into the goal posts and it went in and bounced out. The browns won later though.

There was nothing wrong with using the replay.
It was an objective call - whether the ball went through the uprights.

The ball hit the left post then hit the arched bar below that.(Which is considered a good PAT) And then it bounced out. The reffs thought it was no good but when they reviewed it they saw that it hit the arched bar which meat it was good!

You can probably get a video clip off YOUTUBE.

I hope I helped!
