Dunno... a bottle of spirits perhaps?
Joking aside I don't think there is anything physical you can give to a ghost. How about doing something like finding out about George and who he was. if you could discover where he is buried you could perhaps go and leave flowers.

The person who quipped "a bottle of spirits" was on to something -- you can give the ghost some kind of libation -- food and drink offerings similar to what is left by children for Santa Claus. It is possible that the ghost is an ancestor spirit, in which case you don't want to send him away. Were there any Georges in the family? But I would suggest pouring a beverage outside on the ground for the ghost, or maybe as someone else suggested setting up a nice place for him to sleep. Someone else suggested "releasing" the spirit -- but that isn't always necessary or adviseable. Let the spirit know that they can leave if they want to. Don't force him to leave unless he becomes a problem. I am a little bit concerned about the throwing of the cup. Make it clear that this is not acceptable.
Hope that helps.

Well...seeing how ghosts don't have physical bodies, giving it something to eat or drink is a little pointless. The suggestion of your daughter drawing it a picture is superb. She can hang it on the wall in her bedroom so George can see it all the time.
My daughter asked me the same question regarding her two ghost buddies Lucy and Roger. She actually got mad though because she wanted it to be a surprise, but Roger kept peaking over her shoulder when she was drawing. She had to take the picture to her grandma's to finally finish it. She hung it up on her door and told me that they loved it.

Consider leaving the ghost a "burnt offering" as in burnt (charred black as in remains of the thing, just like George is the remains of his Earthly being) have her ask George what his favorite cookies are then burn a few til they are coal black and put them on a paper plate for her to give him, put the same amount of good cookies on another plate and set that down next to them - just in case, you never really know, maybe they could have a tea party if he is her imaginary friend. If he's like Casper, it would be ok, but if he's like psycho ghost, just leave them with him name on a piece of paper by them, and shut the door so he can enjoy them in private.

I don't think that your daughter is crazy. She might be feeling a presence that was there from when somebody else lived in your house. I think that you should find out who lived in your house before you and try to find one of George belongings. If he feels that he is not connected to the house anymore he well leave.

I would make him some invisible kool-aid and leave a couple cookies that should disappear over night.

Tell her to create a little space in her closet so he has somewhere safe to go when he needs to. She can make a little "home" for him.

She could just honor him in some way. Perhaps she could draw him a picture.

I can tell you this much - don't give him another cup. ^_^
Maybe a book from "back in the day"? Something familiar, you know?
