I have a USB plug that I have been using for 2 different brand printers in the past and it worked and fitted well. I just bought a new printer over the weekend and for some reason the USB plug fits kind of loose. Just one light effortless pull and it is out of the socket, however it fits firmly into the computer but loosely into this new printer. What should I do? I thought a USB plug suppose to fit ALL printers.

I nearly took my printer back to Jessops when it was delivered because I couldn't get my camera connected via the USB input socket. It turned out that the outer panel on the printer wasn't properly positioned and after I had a "play" with it - (really forced it over) the panel clicked into place. Could you have the same sort of problem?

I would try uninstalling the printer and the drivers completely. Then reinstall it. When you try to install drivers over existing stuff, it doesnt always work. Uninstall then install. If that doesn't work, try checking the cable for the printer, then check behind the printer where the cable goes into the printer. If any of that looks unusual, go from there. I've had USB cables that seem to stop working correctly sometimes and i usually just replace the cables, in which case new ones can be picked up from walmart or radio shack. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Most or if not all USB printers that use USB will have a USB-A (this end hooks to your PC) and a USB-B connector and this end connects to your printer. These are universal and can be used with any device that uses this sort of USB connection.

you may have a damaged USB cord or your port on your printer may be damaged. If you have an extra cord try to use it instead to rule out a bad port. If the port is bad then take it back and trade it for a replacement.

It should fit the same way in any device. When it is connected, are you able to print? If so, then it sounds like a bad connector in the printer. If not, are you sure you are plugged int to the printer's USB port?

USB cables are cheep unless you purchase a gold plated one like i did at at Radio Shack, $17.00, but at Wal-Mart they run under $5.00. You can try a replacement to see if it fits tighter. I have had that same kind of problem also in the past with looseness and if doesn't fit tight you can take back.
If a replacement doesn't work you can use a tooth pick as a shim in the socket and break it off to keep it tight, maybe even a piece of tape.
Improvising is a must in the manufacturing part of this world we live in and if it doesn't fit , welp , ya got to fix it yourself.

The end of the USB cable going to the pc is standard, the other end isn't always the same. Check the manual that came with the printer and see what type of cable it needs.
