Since the government is so concerned with not offending people, they have taken away prayer is school, posting the ten commandments in government buildings, even many places do not allow the nativity scene on government property. So, with this thinking, shouldn't the senators, congressmen and all members of the government have to work during the "Christmas" break, and not take a break, including delivering the mail. That is if they do not want to offend anyone.

My arguement is not empty, I am simply trying to show how hypocritical the government is. My family celebrates "Christmas" for what is truely is. The celebration of the birth of Christ. We do however, enjoy other aspects of the day too. Like family time, and the giving and recieving of gifts.

I just heard that Santa cannot say HO HO HO anymore. Or it will be considered sexual harassment. Now the government said they must not use it or get arrested. Now they have to say HA HA HA at the Santa School. The government says it is different from church and state, but they sure interfere. Although Santa has nothing to do with religion. Cannot say Christmas day anymore.. only call it holidays. So Happy Holidays.

Christmas has become such a secular and commercialized holiday that Christians like me who would prefer to celebrate the religious aspects of the holiday are pretty much having to turn into Scrooges to try and avoid the un-Christian influences of it! Just try finding something these days that is actually a celebration of Jesus' birth instead of Santa, Rudolph, Frosty, Kwanzaa, etc., etc.
The more I understand about the pagan roots of it all and the fact that we really don't know when Jesus was actually born, the more I think the JW's may have a point in not celebrating it at all!

That said, your argument is pretty much empty--Christmas is just an excuse to shut down the government and make people spend money, just like every other American holiday is now!

My thoughts on this are very simple, I think that if you believe in Christmas and want to celebrate it then you should be able to. If you do not like what is in the schools or what is posted on the lawn don't pay attention to it. If a cross, prayer, war, or certain medical procedures offend you then do not get them!! This is America and we love the freedom that we have until it offends us in some way. We have free speech regardless of who we pray to, how many kids we choice to have, and what holidays we need to take off, with that being said I think that we should all take a few steps off of the soap box and do what makes us happy. By doing that we would not have to spend so much time worrying about what the neighbors are doing. LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE. We all know that the government is going to remain clueless to at least half of the population because we are so diverse in our believes.

The origin of Christmas has nothing to do with the birth of The Christ. So maybe you should begin there. Like many things Christmas and the celebration has nothing to do with government. Only if people choose to feed into it.

As much as Bush would love to take our Chritian Nation and turn it into whatever he wants it won't work and hey as for them not having the holiday's off with pay because Bush I'm all for it! As for the Ten Commandments Bush also told churches if they preached against the war and Thou shall not kill well they would loose their non profit status-and the church's wonder why attendance dropped-maybe because they call killers hero's and don't talk about the war being wrong!

Government should celebrate Christmas as soon as the government defines that Christian-ism is the official religion of the country.
