Detroit named the most dangerous city in the U.S. and Flint, Michigan named the 2nd most dangerous.

TG: New Orleans may have hope instead of the same old corruption. Michigan continues to go further into corruption under the Democrats. I would like to see if a change in authority might help. This state and these cities have been under the democrats for a long time. Something needs to change!

delphi: I was born in Flint, Michigan, and raised in Detroit. Our home that my dad paid $30,000. for in 1955 on the northwest side of Detroit sold for $3,500.00 in 2000, with cocaine dealers driving down the middle of the streets and bullets whizing by my head, I got my dad out of there in 1997, so he could live peacefully his last days.

They are LIBERAL, right?
Detroit typifies the result of LIBERAL thinking.
Such results are just a matter of time.
The Socialist/Marxist leanings of the LEFT always lead to such disasters.
If we elect a liberal President out of the batch now running as candidates for the Democratic Party, the whole nation will progress in that direction.
The left never THINKS about any issue.
They only operate of FEELINGS.
Feelings are emotions and have NO foundation in FACT. They will usually lead you down the wrong path.
LAWS circumvent those emotional distractions and help keep us on the right track. Liberal societies ignore laws, they judge on feelings only and that will always be a BIG BOOST helping those who are devious and wish to do harm. With specious arguments, they will always take advantage of any situation and Detroit is a classic example. So are the arguments being used by those who think allowing ILLEGAL immigration is okay. Violations of established laws are WRONG.
ENFORCE the LAW.
Juries in LA can't convict obvious murders (if they are famous) for the SAME LIBERAL REASONS.

Personally I can name 1, 2, 3 candidates why not to vote Democrat in '08, maybe more. But this seems almost like the story where Philly is the ugliest people city. I support you.
But not clear... however, deep pockets and lobbyist money coming out of here is another story. Unions are thick and have backed bad candidates for ever. This to me is a big issue! Thanks for the info !!!
btw bruised is the Mich football team who got beat by rival Ohio State. Finally a win! But they lost 3 in a row at home. The coach is about to go away & the city paid be millions for a new stadium in Annarbour (sp?) ... repairs needed there !!

NO... it's not a good reason not to vote for the democratic party.
I live in Livonia michigan. It has nothing to do with democrat vs republican. It has to do with manufacturing.
two major things are happening:
1. People are not buying American Made cars as often as they used to.
2. The reason nobody is buying Ford, GM, Chrysler is that those companies have REFUSED to listent to what the consumer wanted.. they behaved the way things used to work
"they'll buy it because we make it"
instead of taking into account, green factors, gas prices, foreign auto competition... and they have never changed to think.
"buyers have so many choices...we better make cars that can compete...that way people will choose our cars because they're better"
no...they continued to make cars the way they always have...and now people are switching to better vehicles with better gas milage etc etc...
so ford, gm, chrysler have to shut down plants... put thousands out of jobs...
and not only directly..but there are so many factories and and warehouses and design facilities which were majorly supported by the presence of these car companies... those all go out of business too...
now the market is flooded with people looking for jobs, not enough jobs...people are defaulting on their mortgages, sinking deeper and deeper into debt...
this is a problem that is at least 2 decades in the making...we can blame neither republicans nor democrats.

Crime has nothing to do with the current polititions in office (although I don't agree with most Democrats) or how many police are on the streets. If somebody wants to do something bad enough they can make it happen. That's why it all starts with parenting and how children are raised to see the world. If we pushed for family values and working our issues out more, instead of the ideas that more laws and government will answer all are problems, Things would be a lot better for everybody. I

Nafta coupled with a Canadian socialist has been so good to Michigan's economy were #1 in unemployment, and thousands are fleeing the state in search of work. Dem's solution: higher taxes!
Manufacturing left Michigan because of the highest taxes in the free world.
At least we are No1 in something else now.
Michigan is now the new rust belt of the USA.
FYI-The Canadian socialist I refer to is governer Granholm

Moody-I think that the price of houses in Detroit says it all. When you can buy a stick built house anywhere for 3000.00, things have to be pretty bad.
I think that many people have answered you adequately, and I cannot really add anything substantive.
However, note to Delphi, Moody lives there. I think that she is eminently qualified to comment. And whatever they call that party which is rapidly destroying our country is a compliment.

But Detroit and Wayne County (where Detroit is located) have been under Democrat control for over 4 decades.
Surely Detroit must be a veritable paradise by now, no?

Ah, yes, the final solution. We'll just force any state that doesn't elect Republicans to leave the union. The decline of the cities has been going on for decades. If you want someone to blame, there's plenty to go around. Look at the debacle in New Orleans. Despite the handout of billions by the government, very little of the city has been rebuilt.
