I know some cars will display a check engine light when the gas cap is not on tightly. Maybe it's wearing out and not sealing well sometimes... Seems likely because the problem always occurs after you pump gas.

If putting the cap on tighter doesn't help... try a replacement cap from your dealer's parts department.

Sometimes the light goes on because you don't have your gas cap tight enough. Sometimes, if you let it get too empty the light will turn on. Usually, it takes a few fill ups to make the light go away. In all my experience, 95% of the time that light means nothing and just needs to be re-set.

If it continues, get it looked at. Check the oil level, and fluid levels. Keep an extra eye on the Temperature Guage and obviously never run the car if it's overheating.

Sounds like it might be a loose gas cap. You could take the car to an autozone store and have them read the codes on the computer. They will do this for no cost, and will tell you the problem, and why the light is coming on.

good luck

Did you turn your gas cap until it clicked? It could be air or water getting into your gas tank. It could also be an O2 sensor going bad. next time you fill up, make sure you click your cap several times..see if that fixes it. Happens to me all the time

sometimes the cap doesn't get twisted on right when closing it after fueling and causes the check engine light to temporarily come on, try closing the cap again, hope this helped, good luck
