to tell her I had a positive pregnancy test and that I wanted to come in and verify the results with a blood test. Well she told me that the test is not more accurate and that it is a way of verifying how far along I actually am. I wanted more than the hpt to verify I am pregnant. Should I ask if they can do a sonogram today?

I had to get a test from my primary care doctor before my OB would set up an appt for me. Course, the primary care just used a urine sample (not a blood test), so it wasn't any different than what I did at home. They just needed a doctor's confirmation for insurance purposes, or something like that. Getting a sonogram is not the answer at this point, as someone else pointed out, there's not much to see right now, unless you're more than 6 weeks along? Did you get a chance to schedule a future appointment with your doctor? When is that? They'll most likely want to see you in the 6-8 week range (that's counting from your last menstrual period).
Good luck and best wishes!

Your doctor would do another pregnancy test when you go into the office to confirm. Then they would set up an exam for your pap and all of that soon after confirming your pregnancy. Even if they did a sonogram today if you're newly pregnant they probably wouldn't be able to see much. Is there a reason that you need more than the test you took and the doctor would take to confirm that you're actually pregnant and not getting false positives?

They wont schedule your first OB visit until you are about 6 to 8 weeks along...they will do an internal ultrasound at that point...I took 6 HPTS all were positive and I still needed a dr to tell me I was pregnant. I called my family doctor and they did a pee test and it was positive too. I didn't have a blood test done at all...if you need to hear a doctor say you are pregnant go to your family doctor and get them to do a pee test.

You can definately go to the doctor but if you are less than 5 weeks not much to do, it will just be heres a pregnancy test go take it lol. Best thing to do is just buy several pregnancy tests and take them if they all come out positive then your pretty much pregnant. Really up to you on how much you want to spend. CONGRATS IF YOU ARE! :)

nah, not worth it...if you are newly pregnant, the baby might not show up on a sonogram till about 5-6 weeks..you will just be scaring yourself...alot of doctors dont see a pregnant woman till she has missed 2 periods....you can try another doctor to see if they will do a blood test, but thats about it

If you don't know how far along you are they will do a sonogram and they will most likely do a blood test if they can't find anything....

If u want one ask for it. I always requested a ultrasound to see the heartbeat and make sure everything looks ok. A urine pregnancy test is accurate. Good luck!

All mine did was schedule me to come in at 8 weeks. At that time she did a vaginal ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy after I did the standard pee in a cup test once I got there. Good luck to you.

There's no point. Schedule an appointment for when you're 6 - 8 weeks along and they'll see you then.

Blood work is needed. I dont know why so many doctors are turning it down. It gives you an idea of what your HCG levels are, and how theyre doubling- you're supposed to have blood work done to confirm.

I would get a different doctor.
