I know you're joking, but honestly, I loved my time spent living in Edinburgh and the surrounding cities and hamlets. I found the Scots to be very welcoming people.
True story: when I arrived in Edinburgh, I had exactly enough money for one pint (my pay didn't come through 'til the following day). I went in to a pub called the Red Bull on Leith and the manageress there not only let me drink there all night (for free), but she also fed my supper (a great local dish called a Stovie) and let me sleep in the spare room that night.

my partner is Scottish (from Glasgow) and he has a vile temper, a foul mouth and is so anti English its beyond a joke!
my daughter (half Scottish) has a vile temper and has picked up some of her fathers choice language. BUT i love them both to death.
