When you have a personnel opening you may choose, as many of our clients have, to fill the vacancy by hiring a temporary who is looking for a full-time position. This new hiring practice is called a "Working Interview." Many people prefer this method of hiring because positions are filled faster. With the Working Interview there is little, if any up-front interviewing. The hiring decision is made after the temporary has demonstrated satisfactory performance on the job. A new name for a trial period, but with no long terms costs or conditions.

this sounds a little like our thing we do at tesco. the applicant is taken to an area for example the grocery shopfloor and helps another member of staff work a cage. its to see how they got on in that role. at the end whoever the member of staff is that works with the applicant has to fill out a small question form on how they feel the applicant did. usually only lasts about 10-15 minutes. is a good idea i think.
